Australia
Baz Luhrmann's long-awaited follow-up to "Moulin Rouge!" may be too long and full of the type of clichéd film ideals we rarely see in movies anymore, but it's also as glorious and majestic as the continent it champions.

Four Christmases
As family holiday comedies go you could do a lot worse than "Four Christmases." It's too sparse in the comedy to be really successful--every good joke is in the commercials--but it's got some heart and that counts for something. It's a lot better than "Fred Claus," anyway.

Milk
Typically great performances by Sean Penn as Harvey Milk and Josh Brolin as his political nemesis Dan White makes Gus Van Sant's return to mainstream filmmaking one of the more fascinating political biopics in recent memory.

Bolt
"Bolt" is a pleasant surprise from Disney. With great character animation, hilarious jokes, cool action scenes, and a strong supporting cast, this is a movie that will not only entertain families but adult audiences as well. Definitely check it out in 3-D if you can.

Twilight
Essentially, a CW take on Anne Rice, catering to the gooey-eyed fans of Meyers novels and their unrealistic romantic expectations. If one really must see a vampire love story this weekend, they should skip this and go see Let the Right One In.

Twilight
"Twilight" is intent on introducing its world and the characters who live there, but not much else.

Quantum of Solace
"Quantum of Solace" may not be as openly clever or as witty as "Casino Royale" but it's far more intelligent and relevant to today's world, and ultimately, that's what makes it a respectable Bond sequel.

Slumdog Millionaire
Mixing Bollywood sensibilities with Danny Boyle's clever style of filmmaking, "Slumdog Millionaire" is the type of cinematic revelation that only comes along once or twice a year.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
"Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" is a solid sequel and any family that enjoyed the first film will enjoy this.
